All you should have to do is click on them once and they should be there next time you go into that menu. Let us know if that doesn't work. Create a Map chart. You can copy the following data that we used for our examples, or set up your own in a similar fashion. Start with one column for your geographic location (country/region, state or province, county or postal code), then your numeric or categorical values in the second column. Welcome to the Excel for Mac forum! This is the place for users to send us suggestions and ideas on how to improve. To help us build the best version of Excel ever, we have partnered with UserVoice, a third-party service, to create this site to hear your suggestions and ideas for the next version of Excel.

My case is like this: It works and display PDF icon if you follow the regular procedure (insert / object /.) etc. The issue is starting when you would like to customize a little this PDF object insertion, like reducing the displayed name of the file, usually a long one (the path of the file + file name), and the only way to reduce the name is to click on change icon where you can adjust the name of the file but when you click Save. The PDF icon is missing. In the 'Change icon' option there is a windows where is supposed to be filled in with icons. But it's empty.

With previous computer configuration had no problem (Win 7 + Office 365 Small Business). With this new one, unfortunately a lot of issues (Win 10 + Office 365 Business). I run the recommended tool above but again, no luck. This is the message received which doesn't help me: 'You have Microsoft Office 365 Business installed. It does not support the Information Rights Management feature.'

I know that this is a dedicated space for Excel issues but at the end it's probably also related with the Operating System, therefore is good to share the also the Windows issues, maybe there will be a fix somehow and some people might find it useful. So, my other issues since I upgraded to Win 10, even though I really like it, are: 1. Battery drainage - really bad. Tested on multiple notebooks with multiple configurations. The oldest one is mine: I5 second generation, 6GB RAM, SSD 240 GB, integrated video 2. Have lost the wireless display function. I know that there is an Intel problem to fix this (they have fixed it only for Intel processors starting with the third generation, but not for the second generations like mine) but the people assimilate this with not working in Windows 10.

Finally, going back to the issue which generated this topic: my reports look very ugly now with a PDF embedded in Excel and instead of a short and relevant name of the PDF, now it shows a long name with the entire path. I forgot to tell that I have installed Adobe Reader DC. I have re-made the association with the PDF file, but nothing have changed! SOLVED IT!!!!!!! The problem was the Office 365 64bit version installed. Uninstalled it and install Office 365 32bit version. Now it shows the PDF icon in the 'Change icon', I can rename the file and it shows the PDF icon with the short name (renamed). I think it's because the association of the files in Program Files.

If you run on Windows 64bit you have 2 folders of Program Files (one for 32bit and one for 64bit). In my initial case, Adobe was installed in 'Program Files (x86)' obvious for 32bit software and Office was installed in Program Files (which is for 64bit software).

Now, they are both (Acrobat and Office) in the same Program Files (x86) folder and they can be linked! Hope it helps!

Try a Alt-V and then an Alt-U; this should place Excel in Full Screen Mode. Then see if these options appear on top. Then close it. You might also look for a 'pipe-like' symbol (like this: but with dashes stacked on top of each other in apipe like stack). These usually begin every toolbar line, but it may have been dragged to the end of another line.

Look too, for at the right side and scroll to the right to see if the toolbar was misplaced there (if yes, then grab that pipe-like symbol and drag it back to it's own line on the left side of the screen). Are they missing in ALL instances of Excel or just in a particular workbook you are opening? ALL Instances: Look in 'Pgm Files Microsoft Office Office XLStart' for any XLA files that may be there. Someone may have added a macro to Excel thathides the menus. If you find any, move them out of this folder and see if that corrects the problem. One Workbook: You can try pressing ALT+F11 to open the Visual Basic editor and looking through the Workbook and Sheet objects and Modules tosee if there is any code that is causing this to happen.
